Bringing Our Community Together

The MRRA promotes good neighbourliness and safety for all. We are working on improving security with cameras, and have a committed Disaster Management team with regular involvement through:

  • daily radio telephone updates
  • monitoring fire permits
  • placing of fire water bowsers in the areas.

A community which is involved and interacts is a cohesive force for community good.

Conserving Nature

The MRRA’s vision is to preserve the environment and stay true to the beauty and character of the Malgas and lower Breede region.

We chose to live in Malgas and surrounds in order to enjoy a specific lifestyle, one which encompasses all that is beautiful. Our magnificent Breede River, fresh air, little light pollution, breath-taking nature reserves, the never-ending stars, unique birdlife, nature and community.

Influencing Future Development

By you registering with the MRRA your community gains more power to influence the future development of our area and you gain first-hand information of current activities.

Malgas, like the rest of Western Province, has been experiencing unprecedented development and growth and the pressure on the area can be expected to increase exponentially. Your involvement as an MRRA member, big or small, will contribute to evolving and sustaining the special culture and way of living in our piece of paradise called Malgas, so please get involved in any way you can.

Ensuring the Best Representation

As an MRRA member you will be able to ensure appropriately skilled fellow residents are elected to the Executive Committee in order to best represent the interests of the community. Your membership will also ensure the MRRA is sufficiently empowered and resourced in order to effectively carry out the work it needs to do for the benefit of the whole community.

Liaising with Authorities

The MRRA is strongly looking after your interests, in particular on attempting to reduce rates and seeing that the municipal and civic affairs pertaining to our area are properly dealt with, including looking at the short- and long-term handling of refuse disposal.

The aim of the MRRA, as an organised local mouthpiece is to provide a platform for engagement with the relevant authorities, to make the most of the services they provide to the community and to ensure that the community has a say in the decisions which affect them.

We are a “for the people, by the people” organisation. It is an example of how a community, working with the municipality, can achieve its collective goal.
